The Assistant Director of Facilities is responsible for the maintenance of the buildings, building equipment and grounds for any NECC owned properties other than the central facility including group homes, staff housing, remote office space, childcare center and Westborough Station staff housing.

Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Care of Buildings, Building Equipment and Grounds
- Through supervision of custodian(s), assures cleanliness of buildings and grounds according to standard schedules and/or as directed under special conditions.
- Through direct supervision of custodian(s), maintenance and repair work of buildings, building equipment and grounds, within scope of ability and availability of time.
- Contracts with vendors for prompt maintenance and repairs, as required, at prices deemed favorable, within limits of expediency.
- Maintains inventory of equipment and purchases supplies required to effectively carry out the maintenance and care responsibilities. Effects purchasing procedures that reflect most favorable price for quality and quantity of materials.
- Supervisory
- Hires, trains, initiates disciplinary action, evaluates performance and recommends salary changes from all Maintenance technicians outside of the central facility, using federal, state, and NECC guidelines regarding these matters.
- Supervision of all In-House Maintenance Technicians daily.
- Supervision of on call technicians, including role as first follow up call for problems.
- Has direct contact with parents and supervisory authorities as may be requested.
- General
- Assists with security system(s) as required, including knowledge of kantech system.
- Knowledge of energy management systems.
- Acts as liaison with landlord on matters requiring attention or approval of landlord.
- Subject to availability of time and within the span of ability, assumes responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Facilities.
- Recommends capital improvements for budget.
- Oversees supply inventory.
- Oversee fleet maintenance of vehicles.
- Oversees all external NECC events such as annual 5(k) walk/run, golf tournament, etc. and provides support and works cooperatively with food service for NECC events.
- Additional
- The director and assistant director shall both work cooperatively to address emergencies at either central facility or remote housing.
- The director and assistant director will both have involvement on significant construction projects.
